Australia's hospitality industry is in need of training when it comes to serving up the world's most popular manufactured drink, tea experts say.

Australia is in need of tea education, stakeholders say, as its hospitality industry continues to fall short while serving the world's most popular manufactured drink.

"They'll literally take the tea bag, put it in a cup, and often those tea bags are not worth more than 5 to 10 cents, and charge $4.50 for the same thing you can walk in and get a specialty coffee for. Adelaide's T Life Gallery founder Wayne Wu says he is one of only 35 accredited tea masters to have studied and become certified in both China and England.As well as the range of varieties, he said there were many different cultures in tea drinking, from traditional English afternoon tea, to Chinese kung fu style, Japanese style, and central Asia where "they use the milk tea with salt and butters".

She runs online and in-person courses to increase people's knowledge on topics including tea blending, grading and tasting."We've really pushed the education forward because the biggest problem when I started 12 years ago was each country did their own training on their own type of tea.
