In a statement released on Thursday, the ABS said the country’s population had grown by 2.3 per cent to 27.1 million in March. While Western Australia had the fastest growing population at 3.1 per cent in the 12 months ending March 2024, Tasmania had the slowest with a growth rate of 0.4 per cent.
