ANALYSIS: Australia's subs deal has surfaced, but construction is hardly on the horizon
That means it is nearly a quarter of a lifetime until the first Adelaide-built AUKUS submarine hits the water.— which is far from a guarantee, given the complexity of building an all-new class of submarine powered by technology new to Australia.
The Osborne infrastructure upgrade work will also be done at a time where there are other major construction projects slated for South Australia, including the $15.4 billion North-South Corridor upgrade and $3.2 billion new Women's and Children's Hospital.
