The three-game series was initially planned for between late January and early February - just after the Ashes - and was arranged on the basis of the New Zealand Government’s plan to relax restrictions at the trans-Tasman border. But with those plans delayed, both CA and NZC chose to abandon the series.
In a short statement issued by CA, chief executive Nick Hockley said: “We thank NZ Cricket for making every effort to host the series, but unfortunately it wasn’t possible given the border restrictions and quarantine requirements.”
