Australia has shivered through one of its coldest ever starts to a September morning on Tuesday, with new record lows set in parts of Queensland and South Australia.
A bitterly cold morning has set new minimum temperature records in Queensland and South Australia , while parts of the country's north experienced major rainfall.
Picture: Newswire/Nicki Connolly Thankfully, Mr Sharpe explained conditions would improve throughout the day, with temperatures"feeling like spring" as warmth returns across most of the country. Meanwhile, parts of the Northern Territory are being warned to brace for a miserable week, after locals in Darwin woke to a deluge of rain.
Mr Sharpe also warned a"big rain event" could be developing across the country over the end of the week, and potentially into the start of next week, based off a build up of tropical moisture. Nonetheless, Mr Sharpe explained Australia could be set for a wet end to September, with the potential for"La Nina-like" conditions in the coming weeks.
