Ramped up quarantine rules in New Zealand have resulted in the indefinite postponement of the Chappell-Hadlee ODI series meaning Australia has no ODI matches scheduled for the first time in 44 years.

The New Zealand government decided to push back amended quarantine requirements till the end of February which will allow eligible travellers from Australia to self-isolate.is reporting that Cricket New Zealand did not even book MIQ spots.

“NZC and CA had explored a proposal to expand the tour and to push out the date on which the squad might return to New Zealand, in the hope that might be more achievable for the Government,” New Zealand Cricket chief executive David White said in a statement. The Chappell-Hadlee series was set to be a swansong for retiring Kiwi great Ross Taylor but the indefinite postponement means he is unlikely to get a send-off.
