Australia faces China at Bankwest Stadium and a draw will be enough to send the Matildas to the top of their group and on course to play Vietnam in the knock-out stages. Follow our live blog for all the action
Well, that was a rollercoaster. The Matildas took a while to settle into the first half but looked good once they did, and had the better chances in the early exchanges, and but for a little bit of extra polish would have gone ahead.
"But China ramped up the pressure from around the half-hour mark onwards and should have taken the lead when Wang Shanshan was wrongly called offside. She was through on goal with nowhere near her! The Steel Roses have every right to be filthy with that call - and Shanshan went close again just before the half-time whistle with that cracking shot from distance that hit the crossbar.
"On that evidence, if I'm Ante Milicic and someone offers me a draw at the break, I'm biting their hand off. The Matildas look a little shaky and that's got to change if they are going to take the easy road to Tokyo 2020."There may have been no goals but there has been plenty of action in an evenly matched but entertaining contest.China almost snatched the lead on the stroke of half time through an audacious attempt from Wang Shanshan.

EXCLUSIVE: US military commander warns ‘pernicious’ China is a threat to world order | Sky News AustraliaThe United States admiral in command of Indo-Pacific naval forces has described China as the “strategic and defining challenge of the century”.\n\nIn an exclusive interview with Sky News Chief Anchor Kieran Gilbert, Admiral Philip Davidson said China was threatening the “international order” and accused the superpower of “diplomatic coercion”.\n\n“I would say the defining strategic challenge of our time is indeed China and its very pernicious approach to the region in all aspects, whether it is the way they provide developmental funds, the diplomatic cohesion they put on others, their activities in the South China Sea and the very disruptive ways that they use their economy to punish others when they don’t like what others are doing,” he said.\n\nThe admiral said military infrastructure China had developed in the South China Sea “threatened” trade access and communication.\n\n“All of us who depend on the free and open sea space to deliver goods and transmit our financial information on the sea floor, to communicate to our nations,” he said.\n\n“That is threatened by the infrastructure China has put in air and sea space.”\n\nAdmiral Davidson also revealed his forces were being kept at the ready to deal with a belligerent North Korea which he said posed the most “immediate” threat to the region.\n\n“North Korea (is the most immediate threat) – as long as they retain the ability to develop nuclear weapons and potentially target others with those nuclear weapons,” he said.\n\n“That will remain our most immediate challenge and it is on myself and general (Robert Abrams) to maintain the readiness of our forces and make room for diplomacy.”\n

Coronavirus 'rate of infection in China may be starting to slow down' | Sky News AustraliaInfectious disease researcher at Griffith University Nigel McMillan says “in the eight weeks that we’ve known about this virus, we can see now a thousand deaths and more than 42,000 cases”. \n\nMr McMillan told Sky News “there is some hint that the rate of infection in China is starting to slow down, but I think the next two weeks is really going to tell us where we are going to go with this pandemic”.\n\n“There are a number of efforts going on to develop this, and this has to be produced - so the production of the vaccine is not trivial - and then tested,” he said.\n\n“We have to choose a candidate vaccine and these can be based on proteins. \n\n“We have to test them on animals to see that it works and that it actually protects, and then we have to test it on humans to see that it is actually safe.”\n\nImage: Getty
