Acting Prime Minister Richard Marles says Australia will continue to speak up for its national interests without “fear or favour” following China’s comments blasting the government.
China’s Foreign Ministry claimed Australia was entirely to blame for the breakdown between the two countries.“We will continue to speak up for our national interest, we must do that and will do that without fear or favour,” he told Sky News Australia.
“If that differs from the action of any other country including China, well so be it, but our first duty is, and our principle duty is to be speaking to Australia’s national interest.”
