Chief executive salaries rose average 14% in past year despite many companies calling for wage restraint for low-paid workers due to inflation concerns

Managing directors received an 11% pay rise, a survey of 1,089 companies across the public, private and not-for-profit sectors showed. The average fixed remuneration of a CEO at an ASX200 listed company was $1.37m this financial year, up from $1.14m in 2022-23. Some executives at large listed companies earned much more than the published fixed salaries – with bonuses often doubling take-home pay.
