A desperate Commonwealth Games Federation has reportedly asked the Victorian Government to consider hosting the 2026 event in Melbourne.
It comes after Durban withdrew from staging the 2022 games, meaning Birmingham, which was originally scheduled to host in 2026, filled the vacant slot. A “senior Victorian government official” has confirmed the state is actively considering the idea, with studies underway to see if it would be possible.
