Taber finished with 56 catches and four stumpings in the Test arena, and continued to be a mainstay in the New South Wales side, captaining the team while making 129 first-class appearances.After his playing career wrapped up, Taber was known as a generous and widely popular contributor to Australian cricket filling many roles including as NSW coach and selector and manager of the Australian under-19 men's team.
" 129 first-class games and was in the shadows of some great wicketkeepers, Barry Jarman, Rod Marsh, and he was a wonderful craftsman. "He was a fantastic person to have around your young, talented cricketers coming through the system," Ferguson told Nine. "We are deeply saddened by Brian's passing and enormously grateful for his significant contribution to Australian cricket," Cricket Australia boss Nick Hockley said in a statement on Saturday.
