Treasurer Josh Frydenberg says it is important Australian exporters “diversify” their markets in response to economic coercion from China.
“Australia’s been subject … to China’s economic coercion, whether it’s our barley exports, our wine exports, our coal exports,” he told Sky News host Paul Murray. “And it’s important that Australian exporters, in response to that economic coercion, diversify their markets. “So yes, China continues to be an important economic partner for Australia but it’s also important that businesses don’t overly rely on one single market.
“That means they diversify their supply chains, and they build broader resilience into their business approach.”
