Daniel Ricciardo’s distinguished career as a Formula One racer looks over following the popular Australian’s release by Red Bull Racing. The 35-year-old eight-time race winner had felt the Singapore Grand Prix last weekend would be his final race. That was effectively confirmed by his RB team giving his car a fresh set of tyres so he could go out and set the fastest lap of the race as his final hurrah. He did just that.
In a statement, Ricciardo said it had “been a journey”. “I’ve loved this sport my whole life. It’s wild and wonderful,” he said. “To the teams and individuals that have played their part, thank you. “To the fans who love the sport sometimes more than me haha thank you. “It’ll always have its highs and lows but it’s been fun and truth be told I wouldn’t change it. “Until the next adventure.
