A Perth man is behind bars in Bali after being arrested for allegedly attempting to smuggle heroin and methamphetamine into the island. 7NEWS

was searched and authorities claim they found eight grams of heroin and a small amount of methamphetamine which were concealed in a condom hidden in his body.

Diving instructor Jeff Welton could face the firing squad after allegedly being caught smuggling drugs into Bali.His lawyer Sienny Karmana said Welton never planned to sell the drugs - instead, the drugs were for personal use to feed a 15-year-long addiction.
