In a letter, the ANU says the encampment poses 'serious safety concerns' and issued an 'immediate and non-negotiable directive' for protesters to leave.
The Australian National University has officially ordered all students to pack up and leave an on-campus pro-Palestine encampment citing "serious safety concerns".
In social media posts, protesters said they were woken at 8am today by ANU security guards and handed a letter ordering them to leave.About 25 security staff have since formed a perimeter around the encampment.Protesters had put a call out this morning on social media urging supporters to join them on-site, but security is only allowing people with belongings inside the tents into the encampment.
"The encampment's continued presence in this critical area poses an unacceptable risk to the safety and security of our staff and students," he wrote.
