The Albanese Government is 'urgently seeking information' about the confirmed Australian onboard the deadly plane crash in western Nepal overnight after at least 69 people were killed.

The plane was flying from Kathmandu when it came down in bad weather at Pokhara near the International Airport on Sunday and killed at least 69 people.

"The government is aware an Australian was on board and is urgently seeking information from Nepalese officials on the welfare of that passenger." Initial reports suggest the twin-engine ATR 72 aircraft, operated by Yeti Airlines, broke into several pieces upon impact with 72 people reportedly onboard.

Search efforts were called off after dark on Sunday, but emergency workers will continue the hunt for the three remaining victims on Monday. The Prime Minister shared his condolences to the victims and their families, saying he was"deeply saddened by the sad and tragic accident".
