A farmer has confronted the Deputy Prime Minister in an explosive exchange calling him 'useless.'
The last party room meetings of the year are today. Anthony Albanese just addressed the Labor caucus, geeing them up for next year.
"That's more than you can say for this economy. The latest figures today show that we have the lowest Labor productivity in 25 years. Actually going backwards. He eventually segued into an increasingly familiar complaint about the government's tactics in parliament. Mr Albanese said he spoke to a group of farmers last night, who were "devastated" because the government "doesn't have a plan" for the drought. He praised Joel Fitzgibbon for his work in that area.So did Labor's Senate team, led by Penny Wong, for defeating the government's legislation cracking down on unions last week.
Switching back to more general matters, he promised his caucus it could go into 2020 with "confidence".
