Leading Australian swimming coach Peter Bishop is at the centre of a mystery investigation and has had his coaching accreditation withdrawn. Details of the investigation are unclear but Swimming Australia has revealed Bishop will now miss this year’s Paris Olympics due to the probe. The bombshell call is a huge blow for Australian freestyle champion Kyle Chalmers who is one of a handful of stars that has been coached by Bishop.
“Swimming Australia has been informed of a recent investigation and findings by the South Australia Office for Recreation, Sport and Racing into South Australian Sports Institute high performance swimming program,” the statement said. “This was an independent process and part of the recommendations include the restructuring of this program.
