Shadow Veterans’ Affairs Minister Barnaby Joyce says Australians living in the regions feel they are being “dispossessed” by the government’s push for renewable energy projects. “People are so divided, but they are so angry and they just feel powerless,” Mr Joyce told Sky News host Chris Kenny. “They’ve been surrounded by an industrial landscape of wind towers higher than the top of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. “If people want them in the cities … then apply to have them at the edge of your suburb – of course you won’t, because they’re disgusting.” At the 2023 Nationals Federal Conference, Mr Joyce proposed a motion for the party to abolish its policy of reaching net zero by 2050.
