Holidaymakers have been forced to stay extra nights on the Pacific island.
Some 26 Air Vanuatu flights to Australia and New Zealand have been cancelled or rescheduled since Friday.
The airline posted a statement on its website on Sunday, advising of an engineering issue, forcing the carrier to cancel a number of flights.“Air Vanuatu wishes to inform guests that due to an ongoing engineering requirement on our aircraft, a number of our services are being impacted over the coming days we ask that guests continue to check this page for flight updates,” the airline told customers.
Flights from Port Vila to Auckland, Sydney and Melbourne have all been impacted, with the first flight out of the island due to depart on Tuesday. The airline has rescheduled most flights, with some forced to stay a few additional nights on the island before they can make it back home. Passengers due to fly from Port Vila to Sydney on Monday have been rebooked on a flight one week later on October 2.
