Liberal MP Tim Wilson says “there’s no reason to believe there’s any risk” after reports emerged on Thursday that Chinese restaurants in Melbourne’s Chinatown are experiencing a drastic drop in trade.
Mr Wilson said “it would be terrible if businesses sunk as a consequence” of continued coronavirus fears. “The travel ban is in place and we are frankly very fortunate that we can be in the position where we can both have secure borders but be in a position to stop people coming in if they pose a risk,” he said. Mr Wilson said Australians need to “get on with their lives on a day-to-day basis”.
