Australians citizens stranded in India say they have been fighting an 'impossible' battle to get back home, begging the federal government to organise mercy flights.
For the Australians citizens and permanent residents who have had tickets repeatedly cancelled since March, they were further aggravated by the announcement they would have to pay $3000 for their two-week stint in hotel quarantine if they flew into NSW after July 18. After paying for a charter flight home from Mumbai in June, her daughter returned a false positive COVID-19 test only 12 hours before they were set to fly, so the pair was forced into 12 days of hotel quarantine in Mumbai.
