Australians struggling with the rising cost of living could be in for a respite from their increasingly sky-high electricity bills, according to the country’s energy regulator.

The Australian Energy Regulator released its annual"State of the Energy Market" report on Thursday, which expressed concerns about the country’s power system.

Estimated annual gas bills in 2022-23 ranged from $703 in Queensland to $1,647 in the ACT, according to the report. “Generally, we have seen better market outcomes this year, aided by milder winter temperatures, improved generation availability and the impact of government interventions in coal and gas markets along with energy bill subsidies,” Ms Savage said.
