PITTSBURG — A man who police said was physically beaten to death in an altercation with another man has been identified.
Authorities said 50-year-old Allan Flores died from the injuries he received in the fight on June 17. Officers found him unresponsive on the ground near the intersection of Railroad Avenue and East Leland Road, police said.The Contra Costa County Coroner’s Office released his identity Thursday. Police arrested 46-year-old Pittsburg resident Juan Mendez-Medina on suspicion of murder, but authorities have not filed any charges formally against him yet, Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office spokesperson Ted Asregadoo said via email.
Mendez-Medina remained in custody at the Martinez Detention Facility on Thursday morning on a no-bail hold, according to jail records.
