Police chase ends with deadly crash in south Houston
A police chase turned deadly when the vehicle being pursued crashed into a ditch in south Houston, authorities said Monday.
Houston police were pursuing a man they described as a known narcotics suspect about 5:30 p.m. Friday near 2901 Lockcrest Street, near the South Freeway and Almeda Genoa.Galveston business owners say the city marshal is bullying them and point to a viral video as proof The pursuit was approaching Furman Street when the man's gray Mercedes GLC300 left the road, struck a ditch and came to a stop on its side against a telephone pole, authorities said.
The Mercedes created a large cloud of dirt as it left the road, which obscured the officers' vision, police said. The officer's vehicle also struck the ditch and landed on its side. The officers were not injured, police said Monday. They pulled the driver from the Mercedes then administered medical assistance until Houston Fire Department paramedics arrived.Officers recovered cash and narcotics from the Mercedes, authorities said.
