The National Weather Service received reports of numerous crashes and pile-ups by Monday afternoon.
A crash has closed I-81 in North Schuylkill County involving multiple vehicles. Dangerous snow squalls have already caused multiple crashes Monday afternoon thanks to blowing snow and gusty winds on central Pennsylvania roads, forecasters said.
Those who do have to drive and get stuck in a snow squall should slow down, turn on their headlights and hazards, and get off the highway at the nearest exit. Wagner said Monday’s snow squalls are the equivalent of a summer thunderstorm — quick, intense, fast-moving and dangerous.
