The Avalanche made a minor-league trade of Swedish checking forwards with the New York Rangers but didn’t make any NHL trades on deadline day.
Deadline day wasn’t a fraction as exciting as the weeks that preceded it.
The Avs , in third place in the Central, stayed on the fringes of the action. During a stretched-out trade extravaganza that featured Patrick Kane hopping metropolises from Chicago to New York, Bo Horvat and Timo Meier switching coasts, and Ryan O’Reilly and Jakob Chychrun moving to new countries, the biggest move Avalanche general manager Chris MacFarland made was Wednesday to acquire depth center Lars Eller from the Capitals.
“We think he’s going to be a real good depth add for us, that brings experience as a checking type player,” MacFarland said. “Good speed. Good size.”
