After having his first attempted movie shut down, Aziz Ansari's second attempt at a directorial movie debut, Good Fortune, has been shut down indefinitely. Plot details for the film are being kept under wraps, though it has already become a hot project since its announcement, with the Parks and Recreation alum landing both Seth Rogen and Keanu Reeves to co-star alongside him. Filming had begun on Good Fortune in early May, though it looks to have hit a roadbump in its process.

The delay, which sources say came from studio Lionsgate, stems from the ongoing WGA writers strike, which not only prohibited Ansari from contributing any new written material on the set, but also let to picketers interrupting filming in Koreatown. Good Fortune's production shutdown is said to be for an indefinite period of time.
Ansari's Troubled Road To Directing A Movie Explained After getting at the helm for the entirety of Master of None season 3, Ansari was gearing up to make his feature directorial debut with the dramedy Being Mortal, an adaptation of the non-fiction novel of the same name, which he was also set to star in alongside Bill Murray, Keke Palmer and Rogen.
The announcement of Good Fortune came as welcome news for those eager to see Ansari try his hand at directing in film, having arrived nearly a year after Being Mortal was shut down.
Unlike his prior attempt, Ansari's second stab at a directorial feature debut with Good Fortune doesn't have a case of misconduct keeping it from getting back off the ground, instead being put in the same limbo as the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Blade movie reboot, which itself has seen a rocky road to getting made.
