Deakin University’s Epidemiology Chair Professor Catherine Bennett says the BA.2 Omicron subvariant is more transmissible.
“The new variant is believed to be between 30 and 40 per cent more infectious than BA.1,” she told Sky News Australia.
Ms Bennett noted booster doses are important, especially with variations in dosage rates between states and age groups.
