Wildlife officers and volunteers are working to save a newborn humpback whale that washed up on Oxley Beach in Port Macquarie. The one-week-old calf is reportedly in a poor condition, with its mother nowhere to be found. 9News Read more:
The Humpback whale is believed to be only a week old.NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service and Organisation for the Rescue and Research of Cetaceans in Australia are working to save the whale's life.
Volunteers have also joined the rescue mission by putting wet blankets on the whale and using buckets to pour salt water over the creature.The creature was found on the beach after being thrashed against rocks on the shoreline.Humpback whales stay with their offspring for up to a year until they are ready to be on their own.
