Finance Minister Katy Gallagher has confirmed the government is considering implementing a new body that could impose financial penalties on politicians for poor behaviour.

Federal MPs and senators could even be suspended from parliament in the most egregious cases, according to The Age. "This body will be set up and the whole purpose is to look at complaints, and where complaints are substantiated, to implement sanctions against whoever that may be.Ms Gallagher said she had received cooperation from the crossbench and the Opposition on the legislation."And I'm very hopeful that we will have probably a draft we would release publicly pretty soon."
