Friendswood boys pull away in second half for win over Santa Fe

Santa Fe took a 33-32 lead into the third quarter, but Friendswood began the second half with an 8-1 run, getting a 3-pointer from senior guard Benjamin Burke, a putback from junior post Luke Ballard and another 3-pointer from sophomore guard Dyllan Baker for a 40-34 lead.“We did a good job of executing the half-court offense and then locking down on defense and finishing plays with strong rebounds,” Marburger said.
“ was playing well, and hit a couple of big shots early,” Marburger said. “He sparked us because he was really stretching the floor, knocking down some shots. Burke, however, offset Friendswood’s free-throw woes by canning five treys and while also hitting a key follow shot inside in the final period en route to a 17-point performance.
