Two Malaysians convicted in the 2002 Bali bombings, which killed over 200 people, have been released from Guantanamo Bay and returned to Malaysia to serve reduced sentences. They agreed to testify against the alleged mastermind of the attacks.

Two Malaysians found guilty of conspiring in the 2002 Bali bombings which killed more than 200 people, including Australians, have been freed by the US to serve their sentence back in their home country after the pair agreed to testify against the alleged ringleader of the terror attacks.Australian survivors of the 2002 Bali bombings have been left angered after two men who pleaded guilty to conspiring in the terror attack were freed from Guantanamo Bay .

Mohammed Farik bin Amin, 49, and Mohammed Nazir bin Lep, 47, were released from the Cuban-based maximum security prison and sent home to Malaysia this week. The pair had worked with Encep Nurjaman, also known as Hambali, the alleged Indonesian ringleader of al-Qaida affiliate Jemaah Islamiyah, and helped him escape. US and Malaysian officials came to a diplomatic agreement to allow the men to serve reduced sentences of five years, if they gave evidence against Hambali at his trial. In January they were sentenced to 23 years behind bars, not including time already served since 2003, after pleading guilty to offences such as conspiracy and murder. Australian survivor Tim Weatherald on Thursday said he was'disappointed' bin Amin and bin Lep had been let out with reduced sentences after the hurt they caused. 'The thing for me is they showed no remorse. From my point of view, if they showed a bit of remorse, and a bit of care but they almost seem proud of what they have done. So I have no issue with them not ever seeing the light of day again,' he told Sunrise. 'I have seen first-hand the terror they brought and how sad (it was) and 22 years later, it is still an awkward thing for me and my friends and family and all the people who were over there. We have to remember that. I don't think they should get out'
