A western Victorian man has been denied bail after being charged with filming intimate images of more than 100 young girls in Melbourne and Ballarat.

(Derek Anthony Grima, 39, has been charged with allegedly producing intimate images and possessing child abuse material.

The court heard Mr Grima allegedly filmed underneath the skirts of about 150 unidentified girls who appeared to be between the ages of 12 and 15. Upon Mr Grima's arrest, police said they found an iPhone application which allows users to take covert images and video in "stealth mode".
