Greens leader Adam Bandt has welcomed the Albanese Government’s proposal for establishing an Indigenous Voice to Parliament but has told Sky News Australia he is pushing for it to go further.

In his speech, Mr Albanese said the proposed referendum question needed to be “simple and clear”.

The parliament shall, subject to this constitution, have power to make laws with respect to the composition, functions, powers and procedures of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice. “Given that we’re talking about the constitution, it’s really important that Australians understand what it is that’s being proposed by the Voice," Mr Leeser told Sky News Australia’s Matt Cunningham.
