The mini-Budget on 23 September caused turmoil in the financial markets after which The Bank of England launched an emergency intervention, buying more gilts to stabilise the markets has announced it will delay the sale of Government bonds until 1 November after the new Chancellor’s fiscal announcement on Halloween.

“The first gilt sales operation was scheduled to take place on 31 October and proceed thereafter,” the Bank said on Tuesday evening. “In light of the Government’s fiscal announcement now scheduled for 31 October, the first gilt sale operation will now take place on 1 November.”
