Superannuation fund chiefs have been deemed more important than “Team Australia” bankers to attend the Albanese government’s Jobs and Skills Summit.

Industry superannuation fund chiefs have been deemed more important than “Team Australia” bankers to attend the Albanese government’s, despite banks having more than 200,000 staff and businesses as customers that employ millions.

Instead, they will be represented by Australian Banking Association chief executive and former Labor premier Anna Bligh. The chief executive of the industry super fund managing retirement incomes for workers in health and community service sectors, HESTA’s Debby Blakey, is also due to attend.Industry Superannuation Australia chairman Greg Combet, a former union leader and Labor cabinet minister, is also invited.

Mr Albanese said there were “limits” to how many leaders could be invited to the summit, which will be held in Canberra next Thursday and Friday.
