Layton Darwood died on August 24, 2020, after he fell underneath the trailer of the Ford Transit Tipper outside a local shop.

A banned driver is facing jail after being been found guilty of causing the death of a five-year-old boy who fell under the wheels of a van.

Jacques, 40, had been standing trial at Newcastle Crown Court charged with causing death by driving whilst disqualified, and today Monday, September 4, a jury of 12 people found him guilty of the charge. However, while the defendant's vehicle was stationary, and before driving off, Layton climbed on to the trailer and on the vehicle.
