Bargain Booze robbery arrests as armed police storm residential Darwen street
Two men have been arrested in connection with a robbery at Bargain Booze after armed police swooped on a quiet residential street in Darwen.
A heavy police presence arrived on Cranfield View at around 10am this morning with pictures showing officers carrying guns and a dog unit also in attendance. Stunned neighbours reported waking up to see their homes surrounded with five police cars, vans, and eight heavily armed officers at the scene.
The road was blocked off for around two hours by Lancashire Constabulary with residents reporting it was only safe to leave their homes from around midday. The force said the operation was carried out as part of their investigation into a robbery at Bargain Booze on Bolton Road on Friday .LancsLive previous reported how two members of staff were threatened by an offender, who was seen carrying an unknown weapon, before demanding money.
No injuries were reported. Detectives launched an appeal for witnesses following the terrifying incident and Lancashire Constabulary this afternoon confirmed that two men aged 32 and 25 were arrested on suspicion of robbery and are in custody. Det Insp Kathryn Cussans, of Blackburn Police, said: “This is an ongoing investigation and we are asking for anyone who witnessed the robbery or were in the area around the time to contact us.The robbery happened on Friday night, just after 9pm. Anyone with information is asked to contact 101, quoting log 1285 of September 16.
