“You have large media companies that operate across the world in a way that is pervasive in everyday life. But whether they’re actually amenable to Australian courts jurisdiction, whether you can enforce any judgments of an Australian court against those large media companies, that is the real problem.”
Justice Steve Rares ruled the videos about Mr Barilaro were deeply offensive and racist, and vilified him. “It highlights that maybe a company can look at its own use policy, its content policies, and decide that something doesn’t violate its own policies, but that may nevertheless fall foul of the laws of other places where the material is uploaded and viewable,” he said.
