Update: Barricade incident in Northglenn leads to fatal police shooting
Police said in a news release that the man was wanted for probation violation in an attempted murder case in Denver. He was barricaded in an apartment with a woman and three children.
While negotiating a safe release for the children, shots were fired inside the apartment, police said. The suspect later opened a patio door and fired several shots and a Thornton officer shot the suspect. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. Just before 7 p.m., police tweeted that the shelter-in-place order was lifted and “there is no threat to the community.” About an hour later the department tweeted that a police shooting investigation was underway.
The identity of the man will be released by the Adams County Coroner’s Office. The 17th Judicial District Critical Incident Response Team is leading the investigation.
