Prior to his death, the late Barry Humphries said he did not want a state funeral in Victoria because he was still angry about how he was treated by the Melbourne Comedy Festival, according to Sky News Australia host Rowan Dean.

“I can vouch for this, I would spend an hour with Barry Humphries only a few days before he died and he was still very angry about the Melbourne Comedy Festival,” Mr Dean said.
