By sweeping O’Connor, Eagle Pass advanced to the regional semifinals for the second year in a row and will face off against Austin Westlake with the date and location to be determined. O’Connor started off strong in Game 2, scoring the first run in the first inning. Isaac Hernandez started off with a leadoff single up the middle, went to second on a sacrifice bunt, took third base on a wild pitch and came home on Dillon Lopez’s sacrifice groundout.
Derek Ruiz then put the finishing touches on the Eagle Pass victory with a two-run homer over the right-field fence in the fifth inning, making it 6-1.
