In a preview of Chip Zdarsky, Jorge Jimenez, Tomeu Morey and Clayton Cowles’ Batman #139, fans see Bruce’s new life after leaving the Bat-Family behind. Now with shaved gray hair and a false mustache, Batman is pretending to be a dock worker named Lenny.However, the change in Batman is more than skin deep. His alternate ‘Zur-En-Arrh’ persona has been attempting to take over his body for months now, and this preview shows the brutal presence is making him more vicious than ever before.
Batman has been working to suppress Zur-En-Arrh, but the Gotham War - which saw him at odds with the Bat-Family - allowed it more and more control over his actions. Now, he ominously promises this will be “the last time” he comes to blows with Joker, as he hunts the Clown Prince of Crime without his usual resources In many ways, the ‘Lenny’ identity really is a different person.
Batman Needs His Family More Than Ever As Lenny, the Dark Knight Is a Lone Wolf - and Potentially a Killer As Batman stalks the streets terrifying those he’s meant to save and working as a brutal “manhunter” rather than a protective force, it’s clear that a dark new era is underway for the Caped Crusader - and things are only going to get worse.
