A single well-worn Laura Ashley dress that the designer wore until it was in shreds–combined with years of collecting the brand’s pieces–is what inspired theto launch her own namesake collection of floral puff-sleeve pieces that range in style from house dresses to party frocks in 2016. So it made total sense when she struck up a partnership with the brand for a curated collection of pieces using its sentimental archive prints last year.
For the occasion, Hay had full access to the archives and prints that have become so iconic over the years, especially for collectors. The hero piece of the collaboration, according to the designer, is the Ruthin dress, which is based on an archival Laura Ashley sketch, now reinvented in two colorways for this capsule. Other items make an equally powerful statement for followers of inherently vintage-inspired both brands.
