Another great thing we learn from this video is that not all failed panels need to be ground down and put through a recycling process. By recycling these materials, producers of electric vehicles can minimize their environmental impact while creating new batteries with high performance ratings.
Electra Battery Materials Corporation is ahead of the curve with its demonstration plant that has successfully extracted lithium, nickel, cobalt, manganese, copper, and graphite from black mass in batch mode. This breakthrough marks an important step towards a more sustainable EV battery supply chain as the demand for critical minerals continues to grow in tandem with the looming supply deficit of metals like nickel and cobalt.
