Qantas and Virgin Australia have both started the week by announcing sales to entice domestic travellers to lock in their next trip away.
The battle for domestic travellers is heating up with both Qantas and Virgin Australia announcing sales fares within hours of each other.
Virgin Australia's sale is aimed at those looking to travel to, or from, the Gold Coast, while Qantas has discounts covering more than 300 domestic and regional routes.The flying kangaroo's sale has economy class saver fares starting from $105 one-way for Launceston-Melbourne, with Ballina-Sydney priced at $109.
Other one-way sale fares include $129 for Brisbane-Proserpine, $139 for Cairns-Townsville and Adelaide-Kangaroo Island, and $179 for Burnie-Melbourne. The discounted seats can be booked until 11.59pm on May 20, unless the sales fares have been sold out before then.Virgin Australia's one-way economy lite fares are being offered from $69 for Sydney-Gold Coast, and from $85 for Melbourne-Gold Coast.
