Jason Cassem died of carbon monoxide poisoning last week after he became trapped under a snow bank that collapsed on him.
that piled up as high as the second-story window of the Cassems' home in Drum Forebay. On Wednesday, another storm resulted in even more snowfall that surrounded the house and led to a power outage that lasted for hours.
Jason, an HVAC professional, had ensured the home was equipped with a generator, and later that evening, he went to check on it to make sure it wouldn’t run out of gas while his kids were taking their nightly showers. But when he didn’t return, Melissa grew worried. She grabbed a flashlight and went outside, yelling his name. Once she reached the structure outside of the home where the generator was located, she realized her unconscious husband was trapped inside beneath a pile of snow. She immediately began trying to dig him out and perform CPR on him but also fell in. As she became aware of the fumes coming from the running generator, she started to call out for help.
A tragic accident has rocked our community. Melissa lost her husband to a horrible accident that occurred at their family home on 3/29/23. Her and their two children need to focus on grieving. Any donation helps. Thank you 🙏
