Jacksonville Mayor Lenny Curry said the time to prepare is now, 'while the weather is nice.'

As of Monday night, Curry did say three parts of Duval County are already under a tropical storm and storm surge watch: Trout River, downtown Jacksonville and the Beaches. These watches may expand depending on what track the hurricane takes in the next day, he said.

"I have instructed our key city agencies and departments to be prepared in case the situation charges," he said."At this time we have no plans to close city offices or departments." "We prepare for this annually," JEA CEO Jay Stowe said."In the last three or four days we have ramped up our emergency operations center, coordinating with the city to ensure we can keep the power on as long as we can, and support it whenever there is a problem."
