The former Rabbitohs and Dragons prop has pleaded not guilty to sexually touching a woman without her consent in her Sydney home in March 2022.
Former NRL premiership-winning player George Burgess allegedly groped a woman in her Sydney home and pinned her against the kitchen counter, saying “be naughty with me”, a court has heard.
He said Burgess messaged the woman back on Snapchat and offered to bring a Dragons jersey to her address, to which she agreed. He said Burgess “placed his hands on either side” of the woman, “pressing the front of his body against the back of hers and pinning her against the counter top”, before she ducked under his arm.She told police she asked Burgess, “Aren’t you married?” and he replied, “Yeah I am, but you know how it is.” Burgess allegedly grabbed her right buttock cheek a second time and squeezed it. After realising the milk was out of date, she tipped the tea out.
“We agree that Mr Burgess did go there, there was interaction, but there was no grabbing of her bottom whatsoever,” Wrench said. “We understand the prosecution will lead evidence there is no DNA of Mr Burgess on the complainant’s bottom or her clothing.”Burgess made 149 appearances for South Sydney, winning the 2014 NRL premiership alongside brothers Sam and Tom.
